ASSIGNMENT SKYBOLT (1968) Kataskopoi ston Saroniko (original title) Greek production
Secret Agent Dan Holland (Nicholas Kirk) is sent to Greece in search of a stolen hydrogen bomb. The thieves have an eye towards starting World War III, and are led by a former agent that happens to be Holland's brother! Made in the wake of the successful James Bond films, Assignment Skybolt is a darker spy film with an unusual balloon striptease, and our hero being subjected to even more unusual form of torture. Star Kirk (actually Greek stage actor Nikos Kourkoulos) continued his international film career in Albert De Martino's Bandits in Rome, while his co-star Vera Krouska was featured in the giallo Death Steps in the Dark. Their director Gregg G. Tallas went on to helm the horror film Cataclysm, which achieved cult film infamy after being edited into one of the stories in Night Train To Terror!
