In 1789 on the eve of the French Revolution, the townspeople of Roussillon live in fear of a tyrannical aristocracy. But a local hero emerges in the form of The Black Tulip (the dashing Delon). The Marquis (Akim Tamiroff, Alphaville), the Prince (Robert Manuel, Rififi) and the Baron try to quell his banditry, but this buccaneer for justice has the support of the revolutionaries and a very clever ace up his sleeve in the form of a twin brother!
