DEFENSE DE SAVOIR (1973)

Jean-Louis Trintignant (Merci la vie), Michel Bouquet (The Bride Wore Black), and Juliet Berto (Celine and Julie Go Boating) star in Défense de savoir, a tense legal thriller from director Nadine Trintignant (Crime Thief). When Simone (Bernadette Lafont, Out 1) is accused of murdering her husband, lawyer Jean-Pierre (Trintignant) is assigned to her defence, uncovering connections between the dead man and an ambitious politician. Co-written by acclaimed director Alain Corneau (Série noire) and photographed by renowned Jean-Luc Godard and Jacques Rivette collaborator William Lubtchansky (Masculin féminin, La Belle noiseuse), Défense de savoir is a showcase for some of French cinema's greatest talents.
