Sailing around the world on their elegant blue schooner, Jean, Isabelle, and her son Damien stop in Djibouti to repair their engine. There, they meet a taxi driver named Mike, who helps them track down the missing part. As they search, he asks if they would take him with them. Jean hesitates (the Gulf of Aden is dangerous) but when they finally set sail toward the Seychelles, he reluctantly agrees to bring Mike aboard. After several days at sea, as the four begin to bond, a Somali fishing boat approaches. The fishermen reveal themselves as pirates, attack the schooner, and take the crew hostage. In a sudden reversal, Mike shoots and kills the pirates' captain, saving the family. With the threat gone but the radio destroyed, they still have a long journey ahead, isolated, off-grid, and trapped with a man they barely know. Why did Mike bring a gun on board? And now, can Jean and Isabelle trust him?
