L'assassino è costretto ad uccidere ancora
Adapted from Giorgio Scerbanenco's novel Al mare con la ragazza and also known as The Dark Is Death's Friend, this 1975 Italian-French co-production blends classic giallo style with a grim and suspenseful narrative. The story follows Giorgio, a greedy adulterer who strikes a deadly bargain with a professional killer to eliminate his wealthy wife, Nora. But the plan unravels when a reckless young couple steals the killer's car, unaware that Nora's corpse lies hidden in the trunk. Their flight takes them to a decaying seaside villa, setting off a tense game of pursuit as the killer closes in.
Directed by Luigi Cozzi, best known for Starcrash, Contamination, and his work with Dario Argento, the film features an impressive cast of genre favorites. George Hilton (The Case of the Scorpion's Tail, All the Colors of the Dark) delivers a smooth yet sinister turn as Giorgio, while Antoine Saint-John (credited here as Michel Antoine), remembered for his haunting roles in The Beyond and Duck, You Sucker, brings icy menace to the titular killer. The film also benefits from the atmospheric cinematography of Riccardo Pallottini and a moody score by Nando De Luca.
Marked by its stylish visuals, unsettling atmosphere, and moments of shocking violence, The Killer Must Kill Again demonstrates Cozzi's flair for suspense and psychological tension. Presented here for the first time in a fully restored transfer, this definitive edition preserves the director's original vision and stands as a must-have for giallo enthusiasts and fans of 1970s Italian thrillers.
