A sultry chanteuse, a hunk on the lam and a fortune in stolen gems

One of the most sizzling fusions of sex appeal of the 1950s, Jane Russell and Robert Mitchum ignite a tantalizing tale of mystery and deception. The quick pulse of this film noir begins as three strangers arrive in Macao, the infamous Portuguese island off the south coast of China. A dangerous game of subterfuge is played out in the island's smoke-filled hotels, gambling houses, bleak streets and docks by Nick Cochran (Mitchum), Julie Benson (Russell), and Lawrence Trumble (William Bendix), and a host of other shady characters-none of whom are what they seem to be.

The provocative atmosphere of dark dealing and murder is eclipsed only by the steamy passion that erupts between Cochran and Benson, almost making them forget that they are at the center of a tempest of international intrigue.
