But what a wonderful way to die!

This '60s comedy-adventure throws the great James Garner (Support Your Local Sheriff) into the thrilling and baffling world of international espionage! Garner plays William Beddoes, an American businessman in Lisbon who is mistaken for a super-secret British spy on the trail of smuggled diamonds. Soon this "wrong man" finds himself pursued by a host of colorful troublemakers like the glamorous adventuress Aurora-Celeste (Topkapi's Melina Mercouri) and the shifty smuggler Steve-Antonio (A Hatful of Rain's Tony Franciosa), who himself is pursued by the blonde American Amy Franklin (Gidget's Sandra Dee).

Delightfully directed by Ronald Neame (Gambit, The Poseidon Adventure) and Cliff Owen, the film also boasts Bert Kaempfert's big-band score, which introduced the melody for the Frank Sinatra hit "Strangers in the Night."
