Occupied France, World War II. An American pilot, John (Ray Milland), is shot down and taken to a convent by the French Resistance. The young novice nun Clothilde (Barbara Britton) is interested in him and is willing to help him escape to England. John passes as being the husband of Madame Bouchard (Tala Birell), a woman of the next village.
